Maryland REALTORS® is seeking an Associate Counsel.The Associate Counsel provides legal advice and counsel to the trade association on a wide variety of topics. The primary responsibilities of the Associate Counsel include staffing, supporting and managing various Association committees, staffing the Association’s Legal Hotline, drafting legal articles, and position papers, performing legal research and generating memoranda as needed, providing content for the Association’s web site and videos, and teaching continuing education classes, providing training and instruction to members, brokerages, local boards and associations, either in-person or virtually, on a variety of topics including ethics, fair housing, contracts and forms updates, legislative updates, and current or topical issues.

QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctor. from ABA-accredited law school and admission to the Maryland Bar are required.  3-5 years of legal experience, with a background in a trade association preferred.  Familiarity with fair housing, real property, real estate brokerages, or political action committees preferred.  Superior legal reasoning, communication, and interpersonal skills are of the utmost importance.

Maryland REALTORS® is seeking a Director of Legal Affairs.The Director of Legal Affairs provides leadership and direction to the Legal Department’s 3 Associate Counsel and Legal Assistant. The Department supports both the Association's internal functions and provides member-facing benefits.  The Director keeps abreast of legal developments affecting trade associations, political action committees, real property, real estate brokerages, property management, commercial real estate, and contracts. The Director identifies, develops, communicates, and monitors policies to ensure the Association’s legal compliance. The Director provides legal advice and counsel to the Association on many topics including governance and tax issues, antitrust, political action committees, contracts, human resources, intellectual property protection and enforcement, and privacy. The Director provides training and instruction to members, brokerages and local boards and associations on various topics.  Other responsibilities include:  Staffing the Legal Hotline and providing timely responses to members; Drafting and reviewing legal articles, position papers and other legal materials for the Association’s magazine, Website, and video content.

QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctor from ABA accredited law school with 5 – 8 years of relevant experience and emphasis on supervision of other attorneys is required, as well as admission to Maryland Bar.  Familiarity with real property, real estate brokerages, professional standards, or government affairs is essential.  Must be able to function effectively in various challenging situations and circumstances, including difficult project deadlines, tight budgets, and evolving goals and objectives.

Lawyers Express Title

We are a busy title insurance company and real estate law practice seeking a Junior Title Processor who will be responsible for efficiently handling various tasks related to title processing, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of Lawyers Express Title's administrative and operational functions. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills, as well as familiarity with Qualia software.  The Junior Title Processor plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our title processing operations. This position offers an opportunity for growth and development within our organization.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Review new orders: ensure the completeness and accuracy of incoming orders and verify essential information and required documentation
  • Open files: initiate and organize new files according to established procedures and record and file all necessary information accurately.
  • Contract review: scrutinize contracts to extract relevant details affecting title processing and identify and communicate any discrepancies or missing information.
  • Order title work: utilize Qualia software to order and track title searches and related services and monitor and follow up on outstanding title work for timely completion.
  • Review title work: conduct initial review title reports from abstractors for potential issues or concerns and collaborate with senior team members to address and resolve identified title problems
  • Order payoffs: request and obtain key information including but not limited to payoffs, judgment liens, taxes and water; ensure accurate reporting of these in Qualia and assist senior processors and remote workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or coursework in real estate or a related field is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in real estate or title processing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Qualia software or similar title processing software is highly beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving processes and technology.
